Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

What it is?
PTSD can occur after trauma, abuse, assault, accidents, medical events, or chronic stress. Trauma doesn’t always look dramatic from the outside—your nervous system may simply stay stuck in survival mode.
Common symptoms
- Intrusive memories
- Nightmares
- Hypervigilance
- Exaggerated startle response
- Irritability
- Avoidance
- Emotional numbing
- Panic symptoms
- Dissociation
- Sleep disruption
- Feeling “on edge” or unsafe even when things are stable
Well Balanced Approach
We take a trauma-informed, pace-based approach that prioritizes safety, stabilization, and nervous system regulation. We coordinate care when you’re also in trauma therapy (including EMDR), and we use medication thoughtfully to reduce symptoms like hyperarousal, sleep disruption, and mood instability—so therapy can work more effectively.
